Each member of the Gridworks team has been picked because of the rigour and tenacity they bring to the opportunities we develop and invest in.

We have a resilient and determined culture focused on building effective partnerships with governments and sector stakeholders in order to hold strong our aim to improve the long-term sustainability of power sectors across Africa.

Simon Hodson

Chief Executive Officer

Simon is the Chief Executive Officer of Gridworks. Simon has three decades of experience making and managing direct investments in developing countries and prior to Gridworks has held roles at Delin Capital, IPS (part of the Aga Khan fund for economic development), CDC Group as well as funds in Cyprus and Cuba. Simon is a qualified accountant.  

Chris Flavin

Director

Chris is a Director at Gridworks. He has responsibility for developing and managing investments. Chris has extensive international project development and M&A experience which spans Africa, Asia and Europe. Prior to joining the Gridworks, Chris spent five years at CDC Group, the final three of which included a focus on transmission & distribution projects and off-grid investments. Chris is a qualified lawyer and spent nine years in private practice advising private equity investors prior to joining CDC Group’s legal team in 2014.   

Richard Olley

Legal Counsel

Richard is Legal Counsel at Gridworks. His role includes corporate operational matters as well as supporting Gridworks’ investment activities in a legal capacity. Richard previously worked at Clifford Chance LLP specialising in private equity transactions. During his time at Clifford Chance, Richard worked on a number of African infrastructure projects and emerging market transactions, including while on secondment to CDC Group. Richard is a qualified lawyer.  

Camilla Summerskill

Executive Assistant

Camilla is an Executive Assistant at Gridworks. She supports Simon and the wider team in daily and corporate operational matters. Camilla holds an MA in International Politics and previously gained an assortment of governance and secretariat experience in the international development sector.
